warehouse location

i have 2 main locations in my short film, a warehouse where the main fight scene occurs, and a classroom/hallway. i found this warehouse location through craigslist. it’s huge with lots of windows. there is a train that runs by though, so getting clean sound will be an issue.

i hired a location scout to look for the school location. i’m thinking usc, smc, or otis would work.

things that i’m keeping in mind when i look for locations:
- price.
- light. are there windows? what are the compass directions?
- parking.
- stuff for actors like bathrooms, dressing rooms, a place for craft service.
- power. are there outlets?

i have to lock down the locations so i can make floorplans and shot lists.

I’m sure you thought of this, but in the picture above it looks huge and will have echo, if it’s in a city. Take your sound person along to the scouting.
It save you a fortune later.

thanks for the reminder. whoever i hire to do the sound probably won’t be happy. the space is huge, there’s a loud train that runs by, and there’s a fight sequence so the actors probably won’t be able to wear wireless mics.
