i need to design a movie poster for my short, ku klux kornea. i downloaded a couple high res photos of movie posters to figure out the order of the credits on the bottom.
the size i’m going to do is 27″ x 41″ which is the standard one sheet size, and i’m going to use a condensed sans-serif font, something like univers.
at the very top of the poster will be the names of the major stars.
then the title, along with any tagline.
then the credits at the bottom. the order goes like this: DISTRIBUTER presents a PRODUCTION COMPANY production “MOVIE TITLE”, then all the movie stars, then MUSIC BY, EDITED BY, PRODUCTION DESIGNER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY, EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS, WRITTEN BY, PRODUCED BY, DIRECTED BY.
then below that, the date of release, url, and their logos.
you would think that since it’s my movie and i wrote it and directed it i would have an idea of what to put on the poster, but it’s more difficult than i thought it would be. i have a couple different ideas but i don’t know if they work. i’ll have to do rough comps and send them to friends and get their feedback.
