the writing programs require specs of shows currently on the air, but the warner brothers writers’ workshop has a further requirement that the show be in its second season.
that means if you want to write a spec for the mindy project, ben and kate, elementary, revolution, or any new show, you’ll have to submit it to the other writing programs this year.
some writers don’t like that rule, but it saves you from writing a spec for a show like last resort that won’t be coming back.
